Profe.    Mayor   (she/ella/elle)

I am a native Spanish speaker. I have lived in Colombia, Venezuela, France and Mexico. I am deeply passionate about social justice issues. I have taught for over ten years, from preschool to grade 12. Subjects taught have included Spanish, English, English as an Additional Language, French, Science, Math, Social Justice, Art and Career Life Education.

For my languages classes, I encourage students to have interactions as genuine as possible with the target language. Activities include listening, viewing and manipulating authentic media, as well as daily conversation in the target language.

I believe each student is unique and they each bring different abilities into the classroom. I believe in fostering collaboration and respect through our daily work. I believe in the usage of authentic materials to further enhance the link between language and culture.

I recognize that I live, play and learn on the traditional unsurrendered territory of the Coast Salish: xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), sel̓íl̓witulh  (Tsleil-Waututh) and Stó:lo nations.
